Great Oak won its fifth consecutive Division 1 title and sixth in seven years at the CIF State Championships with a 47-67 victory over Davis Senior at Woodward Park in Fresno. Nicole Rice covered the 5-kilometer course in 17:32.5 for third, Evelyn Mandel was eighth in 17:43.1, Kiyena Beatty became a four-time champion by placing 11th in 17:53.3, Sydney Belus took 15th in 17:58.6, Sandra Pflughoft secured 20th in 18:08.9, freshman Devin Ito clocked 18:19.7 for 24th and Michelle McIntosh finished 30th in 18:25.6 for the Wolfpack, which completed a sweep of both team titles with the Great Oak boys for the third year in a row.
