San Francisco University High sophomore Lucinda Laughlin finished 16th and junior teammate Mia Giles took 19th in the Division 5 girls final at the California state meet at Woodward Park in Fresno. Laughlin covered the 5-kilometer course in 19:23.2 and Giles ran 19:30.5 for San Francisco University, which edged North Coast Section rival Lick-Wilmerding by a 100-103 margin to add to its state record with 11 championships and 17 podium finishes, both the most all-time regardless of gender.
