FRESNO >> Not even the best performance by a Division V boys runner in California cross country history, nor a thrilling stretch run from sophomore Jack Van Scoter, could rescue Flintridge Prep at the state championship meet at Woodward Park. Following a heartbreaking one-point loss last year to St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda, the Rebels experienced frustration in a different manner Saturday, which overshadowed the impressive performances of senior Alan Yoho and Van Scoter. Yoho clocked a division-record 15 minutes, 10.5 seconds on the 5-kilometer layout to hold off defending champion Trevor Reinhart of Marin Academy (15:24.6), with Van Scoter finishing third in 15:40.8, but the Rebels’ frontrunners didn’t get the support they needed and Flintridge Prep placed fourth with 127 points.
