The 30th annual CIF State Championships were held Nov. 26 at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Here is a division-by-division recap of one of the strongest state meets in the country:

DIVISION 1

BOYS

Great Oak became the third boys program to win three consecutive Division 1 championships with a 66-102 victory over Dana Hills. The Wolfpack, led by all-state honorees Solomon Fountain in sixth (15:20.7) and Jacob Korgan placing 10th (15:30), joined Hart (1990-92) and Dana Hills (2007-09) in capturing three straight titles. Armijo senior Luis Grijalva ran the No. 8 time in division history by clocking 14:50.1 to prevail over senior Michael Vernau of Davis Senior in 14:56.4. Both Great Oak and Dana Hills returned to Nike Cross Nationals.

GIRLS

Great Oak became only the second girls team to win five consecutive crowns in any division with its 47-67 victory over Davis Senior. The Wolfpack, led by all-state performers Nicole Rice in third in 17:32.5 and Evelyn Mandel taking eighth in 17:43.1, joined Saugus -- which captured five in a row in Division 2 as part of seven straight championships overall, including Division 1 -- as well as San Francisco University and Corona del Mar by capturing a sixth title. Great Oak also ran 89:17 for the No. 2 mark in division history. Junior Olivia O'Keeffe of Davis Senior won the individual crown in 17:28.9, joining older sister Fiona O'Keeffe, a two-time state winner in 2013-14. Martin Luther King sophomore Lauren Peurifoy was second in 17:29.3. Both Great Oak and Davis Senior returned to Nike Cross Nationals.

DIVISION 2

BOYS

Led by Owen Bishop capturing the individual title in 15:14.6 and Ryan Renken also earning all-state honors by placing ninth in 15:31.1, Claremont moved up from fourth last year to secure its first boys state title with a 97-107 victory over defending-champion Loyola. Mira Costa senior Caleb Llorin took second in 15:15.7, with defending-champion Steven Khan of Ayala finishing fourth in 15:22.

GIRLS

Mira Costa senior Melia Chittenden produced a memorable kick in the final 100 meters to overtake Northwood senior Erika Adler and Anaheim Canyon junior Sara Leonard to capture the program's first state championship since Savannah Pio in 2010 by clocking 17:25.6. Adler, a first-year runner, took second in 17:26.1 and Leonard placed third in 17:26.7. Claremont relied on five scorers in the top 45, including senior Annie Boos in 14th in 18:02.3, to capture its first state championship and deny Saugus' bid to capture a record-tying 10th championship with a 104-147 victory. Mariah Castillo was fifth in 17:34.4 and Kaylee Thompson also earned all-state honors by taking eighth in 17:44.2 for the Centurions, who have finished in the top two for 11 consecutive years.

DIVISION 3

BOYS

Led by junior Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos taking third in 15:07.4, Cathedral Catholic produced the No. 3 team time in division history of 78:39 to capture its first title and secure a berth for Nike Cross Nationals with an 82-125 victory over West Torrance. Rubidoux senior Erik Gonzalez secured the individual championship in 15:03.3, tying for No. 5 all-time in the division. Redwood Larkspur standout Liam Anderson ran the No. 3 mark by a sophomore at Woodward Park to take second in 15:05.3.

GIRLS

Glennis Murphy and Gillian Wagner of Redwood Larkspur became the eighth female pair to sweep the top two spots in any division in a state final, clocking 17:27.2 and 17:30.7.  Mazzy Genovese took all-state honors by placing 10th in 18:12.7 to lead Palos Verdes to its second championship in three years. Palos Verdes, which qualified for Nike Cross Nationals as an at-large entry, had five scorers in the top 25 for a 75-point effort in addition to running 92:22 for the No. 4 mark in division history. Esperanza and Aptos tied at 156, with the Aztecs prevailing on the sixth-runner tiebreaker when Katelyn Wilson finished 74th in 19:27.4, ahead of Ruth Conneely in 119th for the defending-champion Mariners in 20:04.8.

DIVISION 4

BOYS

Jared Rodriguez led five Foothill Tech runners in the top 30 by finishing second in 15:29.3, securing the first state championship for the Dragons with a 48-100 victory over Sage Creek, which enjoyed its highest finish in program history. Foothill Tech also broke the division record set in 2000 by McFarland by running 79:50. San Luis Obispo senior Callum Bolger delivered the No. 3 performance all-time in the division, clocking 14:57.4 to capture his first state title. Foothill Tech helped coach Ken Reeves add to his state record with the fourth boys and girls sweep of his career, along with his 12th and 13th team championships, following 11 titles from 1990-98 at Nordhoff.

GIRLS

Malibu star Claudia Lane set the all-time sophomore record at Woodward Park at 16:44.94 to capture the Sharks' second state championship in three years following Caroline Pietrzyk in 2014. Lane posted the No. 3 mark in state history behind only former Simi Valley standout Sarah Baxter (16:39.7) and Santa Rosa graduate Julia Stamps (16:43). Foothill Tech had six finishers in the top 45, highlighted by Lauren Kearney earning all-state honors by placing fourth in 18:13.2, to secure the team championship for the Dragons with an 88-112 victory. Foothill Tech ran 94:34, the No. 3 mark in division history.

DIVISION 5

BOYS

St. Joseph Notre Dame senior Cooper Teare matched the division record of 14:58.5 set in 2014 by Marin Academy graduate Trevor Reinhart to repeat as champion. Lancaster Desert Christian had five scorers in the top 51, with Andrew Mitchell taking fourth in 15:43.4 and Joseph Biehl also earning all-state honors in eighth in 15:49.9, leading the Knights to their first state title with a 70-103 victory over five-time winner Flintridge Prep. Junior Evan Pattinelli was second in 15:39.24 for the Rebels, who were looking to tie Woodcrest Christian's division record with a sixth state title. Flintridge Prep added to its own state record with a 16th podium finish in 20 years.

GIRLS

Kiera Marshall helped St. Joseph Notre Dame become the third school in state history to have boys and girls state champions in the same year, clocking 17:40.3 to capture her first title after consecutive runner-up finishes. Flintridge Prep had five runners place in the top 25, led by all-state honoree Sophie Gitlin in 10th in 18:45.2, to not only lower its own division record to 95:19, but prevail 51-170 over Francis Parker for a third consecutive crown. The Rebels set the record for the largest margin of victory by a girls team in any division in state history. Only Flintridge Prep's boys have produced a larger margin of victory with their 43-168 win over Marin Academy last year.
