Big Bear’s Webb, Citrus Valley’s Graves lead area runners at CIF-SS Finals

WALNUT >> Many cross country coaches arrived at Mt. San Antonio College and were relieved to find out the CIF-SS Finals would be run on the regular course at the school, not the flatter, rain course.

For some, that relief didn’t last long.

But for others, such as Big Bear’s Caleb Webb and Citrus Valley’s Claire Graves, it was a banner day.

They each set personal records on the Mt. SAC course on Saturday, qualifying for the state meet in the process.

In all, five San Bernardino County teams qualified for next Saturday’s CIF State Championships in Fresno by finishing in the top seven in their respective divisions. Four others qualified for state as individuals, including Webb and Graves.
