Justin-Siena High School senior Teal Bullick finished 11th overall in a field of 112 runners in Saturday’s CIF North Coast Section Division IV Cross Country Championships in Hayward. Bullick’s strong finish advances her to the state championships on Nov. 30 in Fresno.

Bullick covered the 3-mile course in 19 minutes and 29 seconds for an average pace of 6:30 per mile. Bullick is the only senior on the young Justin-Siena girls team, which finished 11th in the team standings out of 16 teams. This will be Bullick’s second trip to the prestigious California championship meet. She also qualified in 2011, where she finished 74th overall.

“I’m so happy to be going back to the state meet this year. This was my primary goal all season and it feels great to have achieved it,” said Bullick.

“I thought she ran a smart race,” her coach, Matt Wilkinson, said. “The pack always starts fast in this race. Teal stuck to her plan and moved up from 27th place at the mile to 17th at the two mile and then out-kicked two runners over the last 50 yards to finish 11th. I’m very happy for her.”
